Movement Choirs are creative outlets of nonviolence exercising at Atlanta’s National Center for Civil and Human Rights. Lauri Stallings is passionate about how dance can be a form of demonstration, a slogan devoid of any demands or words, suggesting a potential dialogue that may or may not occur, waiting for the conversation to be filled by the viewers imagination. The artist constructs the Choirs as public choreographies inviting people to come together an exhibition site to sit, skip, stand, kneel, prance, waltz, spin, be still, shuffle and twist. Nomadic and free, Choirs take on a different form depending on the space being occupied.
