DESCRIPTION:People Parade: High Museum of Art Choreography Residency \nFriday\, August 9\, 2019 | 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm \nHigh Museum of Art | Green space adjacent to Siffy Plaza \nFree & Public \nLauri Stallings and glo invites the Atlanta community to join them on the grass of the High Museum for weekly People Parades. Stallings is passionate about how dance can be a form of demonstration\, with or without words\, suggesting a potential dialogue that may or may not occur. She constructs People Parades as an invitation for people to come together in a public place to sit\, skip\, stand\, kneel\, walk-in 2’s\, prance\, waltz\, spin\, shuffle\, make footwork\, be still\, and twist. Stallings seeks to articulate\, through community movement\, the deep soul of the individual. She believes that movement with a social conscience is a critical component in creating group empathy and goodwill. Nomadic and free. People Parades are 45-minutes long and take place outside\, in the green space adjacent to the Siffy Plaza. DESCRIPTION:People Parade: High Museum of Art Choreography Residency \nFriday\, August 30\, 2019 | 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm \nHigh Museum of Art | Green space adjacent to Siffy Plaza \nFree & Public \nLauri Stallings and glo invites the Atlanta community to join them on the grass of the High Museum for weekly People Parades. Stallings is passionate about how dance can be a form of demonstration\, with or without words\, suggesting a potential dialogue that may or may not occur. She constructs People Parades as an invitation for people to come together in a public place to sit\, skip\, stand\, kneel\, walk-in 2’s\, prance\, waltz\, spin\, shuffle\, make footwork\, be still\, and twist. Stallings seeks to articulate\, through community movement\, the deep soul of the individual. She believes that movement with a social conscience is a critical component in creating group empathy and goodwill. Nomadic and free. DESCRIPTION:gloPLAY\nbeginning Saturday\, January 4- Saturday\, May 23\, 2020\nTuesdays at 4 p.m.\, Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. \nBeginning on January 4th\, gloPLAY will offer the first of its kind movement shops for Atlanta’s youth\, grades 1-10\, to be free to move as freely as their spirits. \nSchool is more and more devoted to pure instruction\, and less and less time is given to play. We must have time to play: play as investigation\, role play\, knowing how to fall and get up again\, and play as an activity that takes places without knowing what the outcome will be. More than anything\, gloPLAY is about our youth having choices to move with child-like assurance. \nTuesdays 4 p.m.\, Saturdays 10:30 a.m. Pay what you can for all participants. \ngloPLAY will be led by glo moving artist Mary Jane Pennington.
