SUMMARY:because you believe in something
DESCRIPTION:A series of free and public Requiems from one vacant building to another.\nThe city is our medium\, and at glo\, we are always trying to think\, how does our love of Atlanta and our care for the built environment thrive alongside our rigorous social art practice? because you believed in something is a mash-up of traditions\, mixing the soul of movement\, spirit of gospel\, and the melodies of universal chants from one vacant building to another. \nWe are losing the amazingness of cities. Notions of radical urbanism are influencing a call to arms. And its happening very quickly. Each requiem site will become a doc centered space for process\, mourning\, and fantastical activation. The stakes are high. Every move is complex. Deep gratitude for sharing with us this collective Winter journey in Atlanta. \nFor its first iteration\, the project will activate Interlocking Tower.\nOpening Sunday February 12 \naddress:\nDowntown Atlanta 30303\nat the Mitchell Street Bridge

SUMMARY:Hourglass Exhibition Opening
DESCRIPTION:Hourglass comprises three related\, site-specific installations\, each infused with mythology and striking color. In one area\, the artist will create a complete Japanese Zen garden with traditional pagoda\, tatami mats\, and raked sand\, all rendered in bright blue. Arsham will transform a second gallery space into a purple amethyst cavern composed of sports equipment. The final installation consists of a set of large hourglasses filled with crushed blue crystals and sculptural casts. Performers will move through the gallery periodically\, subtly altering different elements of the space. \nThe Opening for the Exhibition will be Friday March 3rd\, between 6-9pm in the Lower Level of the HIGH Museum

SUMMARY:delicious Movement SHOP
DESCRIPTION:A quiet\, slow-paced\, creative practice that anyone can join and enjoy. It is an invitation to come home to your body and to find the ancient\, naked mind that might have gotten tucked away inside it. \nThe body is a landscape\, and landscape is a body. With this notion\, Eiko offers a simple but richly nuanced movement vocabulary that each participant can adopt to suit his or her own body\, time sense and taste. By doing so\, people are encouraged to develop a lifelong pleasure in moving their body and seeing and appreciating others’ bodies. The class will further reflect on what is it to be metaphorically naked\, what is it to be kind\, and how learning movement reveals and alters our relationships with the environment and with other beings. \nEmphatically noncompetitive\, this workshop is open to all ages and backgrounds. No previous dance or athletic training is necessary. \nglo’s Corner Studio the Goat Farm Arts Center\n1200 Foster Street\nAtlanta 30318 \nBody in Places is the omnibus title of Eiko’s first solo project\, and first foray into exploring her unique and riveting theater of movement out of stillness\, shape\, light and sound\, in non-traditional spaces. Eiko is a MacArthur Genuis and Guggenheim Fellow. Her work has been presented world-wide\, including Brooklyn Academy of Music\, the Whitney Museum\, and the Walker Center.   Primary activities of Eiko’s Tanz Farm residency include multiple performance installations in Midtown Atlanta\, pleasure dance SHOPS and Artist as Migrant\, a FEED conversation with Eiko.
