SUMMARY:the life from inside: Art in the Village gallery closing
DESCRIPTION:the life from inside is a choreographed live art work curated by Hope Cohn in response to American artist Frank Stella’s Scarlatti K sculpture series.  This newest piece by choreographer lauri stallings explores the intersection of stillness\, connection\, and longing as four individuals collaborate and interact closely\, while inhabiting the space of Stella’s K.3 relief sculpture\, bound by the act of weightlessness.  \nthe life from inside\nSunday\, January 25\, 2026 at 7PM * Art in the Village space * 3035 Peachtree Road\, Unit B – 200\, Atlanta\, GA 30305\n*Gallery doors open at 6:30PM  \nThe gallery live piece is adapted from a roaming work\, Singing Sun from December 2025\, with a team of glo moving artists Mary Jane Pennington\, Noëlle Dave’\, and Ashley Ianna Daye. Atlanta pianist Choo Choo Hu accompanies on harpsichord\, performing amidst Stella’s massive sculpture.  \nHow do we create the sensation of real space within and outside of the action of the sculpture\,’ said stallings. A lot of conversations came up between curator Hope Cohn about being “in” K.3\, and all the action that must happen for the body to be immersed. And that is the stuff we love the most\, the process of time\, total feeling\,  and total experience. This connection is so important. Shifting elements that feel as if they could lift us in the air at any second.  \nThe life from inside will occur as a live art work in the gallery’s main floor on Sunday\, Jan 25 at 7PM – 8:30PM. Doors open at 6:30PM. \nLimited seating available. \nAll proceeds from this live art work will benefit glo’s programming and our work at the forthcoming project in Atlanta and New York\, letting | We are the Warp. Spirits will be available. \nFollowing the live art piece\, there will be an artists’ talk with curator Hope Conn\, and choreographer lauri stallings. \n

DESCRIPTION:city waltz\, holy waltz is a magical experience rooted in the here and now that transforms public sidewalks into a stage and uses choreographed movements that have a poetic\, romantic quality for creating a space where the public might feel the absence of others\, turning the art into a reflective\, emotional experience. Choreographer lauri stallings believes a dance can be a place without limits. This is the fertile ground from which city waltz / holy waltz has grown\, a 120 – minute choreographed migration that uses waltz as a tool to explore global themes\, and metamorphosis. DESCRIPTION:As summer settles in\, join us in Goodson at the Goat Farm on Saturday\, July 18 at 3 PM for attunement scores and collectives.\n\nMaking Kin is a commissioned series of public art works opening this August through October\,  inviting us to observe how we resemble\, influence\, and attune to one-another. Named for Donna Haraway’s 2016 book Making Kin in the Chthulucene\, earth (chthulu) and new kind (cene) is the act of not being able to think of ourselves as disconnected from the rest of life on earth. It’s also referred to as “staying with the trouble\,” as used by Georgia warrior John Lewis. \nSaturday\, July 18 at 3 PM at the Goat Farm we’re pleased to to invite you to an open rehearsal in collaboration with our creative partners Monique Osorio and Kebbi Williams\, each offering distinct instincts and research as sites to extend from the past to create a portal to new embodied perspectives.\n\nSave the dates\, more details coming soon. SUMMARY:PROJECT LAUNCH: Amor de Lonh
DESCRIPTION:Please join us this Fall beginning Friday\, September 11 through Sunday\, September 20\, 2026 for the project launch of Amor De Lonh in the Dordogne Valley\, southern France. \n Amor De Lonh (“love from afar”) is a two-year commissioned live art work by Association Patrimoine et Culture de Mayrinhac Lentour and Marais de Bonnefont Marsh Reserve created in – situ for various historic culture sites in Southwest France’s Dordogne Valley. \nAmerican choreographer lauri stallings and the Accroc’coeur choir led by Lola Calvet\, alongside a team of international dancers and musicians\, poets and visual artists will interact with minimalist site-specific installations developed in collaboration with Artzimu*t association Association\, Preservation of Taillefer Castle\, and the Friends of William Merwin Association. Conceived as an evolving\, episodic residency\, Amor de Lonh follows insights of the 12th – century French troubadour Bernart de Ventadour\, his dansa\, or balada  (“dance songs”)\, and Ventadour’s profound influence over American poet W.S. Merwin on the central importance of themes of distance: the distance between the present and the past\, the lover and the beloved\, and one place and another. Themes of distance deeply resonated with Merwin and can also be felt in stallings’ choreographic work\, where distance is a metaphor for a lost past\, environmental degradation\, and the challenge of connecting across time and space through our bodies.  \nTIMELINE September 14\, 2026  – October 30\, 2027
