DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 15\, 8:15 – 9:30 PM | Join us for Making Kin Live at Atlanta Beltline Market @Allene\, presented by Atlanta Beltline Art in collaboration with glo and the Atlanta Improvisers Orchestra Choir\, as vocalist Monique Osorio\, choreographer lauri stallings\, and musician Kebbi Williams gather alongside an ensemble of vocalists and moving artists for a people processional live art work that explores the poetics of intimacy\, social touch\, and the weight of shared physical spaces. \nWhile the live art activates American artist Lonnie Holley’s album\, “Keeping a Record of it” (2016) as a site to extend from the past to create a portal to new perspectives\, community\, and what’s left behind\, the project carries these embodied choreography systems and sound scores through a pedestrian flow across .8 miles of the Beltline Westside Trail. Rooted in Atlanta\, the city where the project was conceived in spring 2025\, these people processions create an opportunity for the community to participate physically\, spiritually\, and viscerally\, coming and going as you like. Named Donna Haraway’s 2016 book Making Kin in the Chthulucene\, earth (chthulu) and new kind (cene) is the act of not being able to think of ourselves as disconnected from the rest of life on earth. It’s also referred to as “staying with the trouble\,” as spoken by the late Georgia warrior John Lewis. \nBeltline will have two waterstations along the 65 – minute procession\, beginning and ending at Atlanta Beltline Market @Allene. There are no tickets required as the public art work is free and public to all. SUMMARY:PROJECT LAUNCH: Amor de Lonh
DESCRIPTION:Please join us this Fall beginning Friday\, September 11 through Sunday\, September 20\, 2026 for the project launch of Amor De Lonh in the Dordogne Valley\, southern France. \n Amor De Lonh (“love from afar”) is a two-year commissioned live art work by Association Patrimoine et Culture de Mayrinhac Lentour and Marais de Bonnefont Marsh Reserve created in – situ for various historic culture sites in Southwest France’s Dordogne Valley. \nAmerican choreographer lauri stallings and the Accroc’coeur choir led by Lola Calvet\, alongside a team of international dancers and musicians\, poets and visual artists will interact with minimalist site-specific installations developed in collaboration with Artzimu*t association Association\, Preservation of Taillefer Castle\, and the Friends of William Merwin Association. Conceived as an evolving\, episodic residency\, Amor de Lonh follows insights of the 12th – century French troubadour Bernart de Ventadour\, his dansa\, or balada  (“dance songs”)\, and Ventadour’s profound influence over American poet W.S. Merwin on the central importance of themes of distance: the distance between the present and the past\, the lover and the beloved\, and one place and another. Themes of distance deeply resonated with Merwin and can also be felt in stallings’ choreographic work\, where distance is a metaphor for a lost past\, environmental degradation\, and the challenge of connecting across time and space through our bodies.  \nTIMELINE September 14\, 2026  – October 30\, 2027
