SUMMARY:Who is here with us? group action
DESCRIPTION:Who is here with us?\ngroup action\nThursday\, December 9\, 12pm EST\nZoom registration here\nOn December 9 we invite you to some poetic clarity with the inaugural all women cohort of the first of its kind in the world Social and Environmental Arts Practice MFA created and led by artist\, freedom fighter\, and Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors at Prescott College. The conversation will trace the development of research / experiments by Cindy Bonaparte\, Janelle Dunlap\, Ilasiea Gray\, Katherine Martin\, Martine McDonald\, Zakiyyah Modeste\, Nico Paz\, Shaina Simmons\, and social practice choreographer and glo founder lauri stallings. Composed of notes\, poetry\, fragments of essays\, video\, archives of earlier work\, and photos\, together\, these entwined materials create a new socio-poetic form. Who is here with us? invites a moment to sit with you and our art\, field ideas\, individual social practices\, and story fragments\, to reflect on the measures of presumed proximity with our interventions\, activation sites and research subjects\, and open up space for the particular intimacies and fragilities that never get written up in more conventional academic writing. Who is here with us will be guided by glo praxis + writing lead curator\, Candice Thompson. glo projects and initiatives are entirely free and public.

SUMMARY:l e t i n t h e l i g h t ! ! ! : neon studies no. 9
DESCRIPTION:letinthelight!!!\nneon studies no. 9\nFriday\, December 31\, sunset at 4:51 pm EST\n502 Toombs Street\nPalmetto\, GA 30268We’re delighted to have you with us for the opening of Neon studies no. 9. letinthelight!!! encapsulates the language\, energy\, and emotionality of rural South as the place in our artwork as well as the service work we are doing as an outgrowth of the love glo has for our home. Neon studies is the 4th initiative of March on Variations!\, our iterative project that since October 2020\, operated in the rural South at the intersection of social service\, movement\, and care.  \nglo wants to especially share heartfelt gratitude with the community of Palmetto\, Georgia for providing us a meaningful space for our newest artwork. In the left storefront window is Vyvyan Hughes original \, like a gesture\, gentle wave\, in lavender neon. In the right storefront window is  letinthelight!!!\, our founder lauri stallings handwritten piece bent by Blaze at The Neon Co.\, and composed of eight neon colors\, in this order: pink\, hot orange\, orange\, clear gold\, aqua\, turquoise\, horizon blue\, and lavender. \nglo creates work that requires action\, fearlessness\, and a boundless capacity for connection. glo practice is deeply rooted in\, and reflective of\, her Southern identity and culture. It is an affirmation that beloved community is formed not by the eradication of difference but by the acceptance of each of us claiming who we are and how we move in the world. Drawing from the humanity of living\, and landscape\, our choreography manifests as a dance of curved lines that echo the environments surrounding us. In glo‘s choreography mapping\, dance implies modes of embodiment and engagement\, where domains of animal\, land\, and human overlap with each other. Our work makes it possible for us to imagine the South in ways that invoke a more explicit and sensory experience. Always\, always\, glo projects and initiatives are entirely free and public. \nMarch on Variations! is made possible with major support from Fulton County Community Services Fund.

SUMMARY:the angle where the earth and roots and each moment all meet
DESCRIPTION:“…ideas of ancestral connections akin to gathering roots as a process of holding up a mirror between earth and our minds. At a certain angle\, the routes all meet and we find our way back home. Goat Farm roots have always mapped glo’s way back home from the crucial spaces we are in the labyrinth of our journeys.” \n– glo on “quality without a name\, Tao\, Thay” \nWe are so very pleased to invite you to the angle where the earth and roots and each moment all meet\, our new compilation of research/experiment. The project traces the development of our social movement platform which is in the process of temporarily vacating our Westside Atlanta Corner Studio during a major rebuild phase at the Goat Farm Arts Center. This project invites the public into this moment in its generative state while tracing our lived experience of collaboration through an alive center of a complex body of ideas\, actions\, and images\, which are composed of notes\, sound\, viscera\, maps\, gods\, journals\, various plumb lines\, and ancestors. Together\, these entwined pieces create both living\, breathing art and archive. \nthe angle where the earth and roots and each moment all meet\nFeb 13-15\, 2022\nCorner Studio\, Goat Farm Arts Center\nHere for schedule of actions and to sign up for indoor seating\, and last People Parade\n \nThe projects title is from the quality without a name\, an architectural term expressing theories and most fundamental qualities considered by some the Tao of Architecture.  As well\, Thich Nhat Hanh\, and his ideas of ancestral connections akin to gathering roots as a process of holding up a mirror between earth and our minds. At a certain angle\, the routes all meet and we find our way back home. Goat Farm roots have always mapped glo’s way back home from the crucial spaces we are in the labyrinth of our journeys– from small living spaces in the rural South\, to rivers\, schools\, and huge gallery exhibitions. \nThe process of separating the important strands that inform our work–alchemy\, southern tradition\, epistemology\, ancestry\, and emergence–reveals the extraordinary breadth of the thinking that underlay the methods of this art created on the Goat Farm for a decade. All of the choreography MAPPING share this feeling—an open-ended meditation on the humanism inherent in our bodies in motion. As stated in the glo manifesto 2021\, “of every experience we highlight the life that is lived between them.”  the angle where the earth and roots and each moment all meet confronts public with the issues of memory and mourning. \nSchedule of actions: Feb.  13-15\, 2022 \nTree choir: a short film piece\nFeb 13\n1:30-3pm\nvirtual \nA new short movement choir for film\, starring moving artists Vernisa Allen\, Vinisha Browne\, Mary Jane Pennington\, and Mechelle Tunstall.\nand\, in us . . .under us\nFebruary 14\n6-9pm \nA live art of actions\, and the final choreography MAPPING on the original farm\, entitled and\, in us…under us after Joseph Beuys 1964 performance of actions. Moving artist and LAB lead Mary Jane Pennington\, and moving artist and transcriber Mechelle Tunstall remember as a tool for reorganizing\, for discovering anew their senses amidst 14 existing live art works between 2014-2020. The prolific moving artists will work autonomously. Two of the works\, cloth/field\, and public choreographer #231\, will happen in tandem. Social practice choreographer and our founder lauri stallings retired from performing with Hubbard St. Dance Chicago 15 years ago. stallings will return for this one and only action; as a narrator of communion.\nThe Warmth-Time capsule (machine) + People Parade\nFeb 15\n5pm \nglo is burying a bundle of small relics\, notes\, seeds\, and sculpture for composing of Warmth-Time capsule (machine) on the grounds of the Goat Farm. Join us for the last People Parade to the site. \n \n\n\nYour health and comfort are crucial to us! glo is committed to the safety of our artists and community. \nWe are closely monitoring recent pandemic developments and the impact of the new variant. In response\, all live in-person gatherings\, 12 years of age or older\, will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 full vaccination prior to entry. glo also requires all visitors to wear either N95 or KN95 masks while on the premises.  \n\nAccepted proofs of vaccination are Excelsior Pass\, ATL COVID Safe App\, or valid vaccine card. “Fully vaccinated” means the event date must be at least 14 days after the second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine\, or at least 14 days after a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine. \nHands free sanitizing station is installed at Corner Studio.
