When we are provided an opportunity to be in nature\, quieten our minds\, and participate in time-honed exercises and situations\, it improves our ability to connect to others\, hear our desires\, and generate new ideas. These studiesfoster collectivity through group practice for not only artists\, but for practitioners and professionals in all disciplines. Practice for genuine connection before any interpretation\, giving attention to intuitive understanding and allowing for wisdom and emergence\, with a deep commitment to authentic movement. Through the joyful practice of play\, we keep close to our creativity and imaginations\, setting aside our expectations and assumptions. glo opens up our movement practice to any human being no matter their age\, size\, gender\, appearance or athletic training or performance experience level.\n\nOrigins\nIn 2009\, glo began our social performance platform as a 3-week educational intensive for artists. Through shared knowledge and the circulation of public intuition\, our movement exploration and social conscience has guided and evolved the platform. Our living laboratories have manifest into this year’s Summer Studies.\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:People Parade: High Museum of Art Choreography Residency
DESCRIPTION:People Parade: High Museum of Art Choreography Residency \nFriday\, July 26\, 2019 | 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm \nHigh Museum of Art | Green space adjacent to Siffy Plaza \nFree & Public \nLauri Stallings and glo invites the Atlanta community to join them on the grass of the High Museum for weekly People Parades. Stallings is passionate about how dance can be a form of demonstration\, with or without words\, suggesting a potential dialogue that may or may not occur. She constructs People Parades as an invitation for people to come together in a public place to sit\, skip\, stand\, kneel\, walk-in 2’s\, prance\, waltz\, spin\, shuffle\, make footwork\, be still\, and twist. Stallings seeks to articulate\, through community movement\, the deep soul of the individual. She believes that movement with a social conscience is a critical component in creating group empathy and goodwill. Nomadic and free. People Parades are 45-minutes long and take place outside\, in the green space adjacent to the Siffy Plaza. You can come and go as you’d like. \nEmail us with your questions at info@gloatl.org.
