Alyssa Lucas

Moving Artist

Alyssa Lucas is a Filipina-American dancer, choreographer, and educator from Atlanta, GA. Her artistic journey began in childhood, where she explored movement while rolling in the grass, catching fireflies, and climbing magnolia trees. Alyssa trained rigorously at the Royal Dance Academy (Suwanee, GA) throughout her formative years, with the influential mentorship of Sarah Haslock, Cici Kelley, Stephan Isijia Reynolds, and Caitlin Gray. There, she completed the globally recognized Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet curriculum.

Alyssa holds a BFA in Contemporary Dance from the Boston Conservatory and is a proud alumni and scholarship-recipient of Accademia Dell’Arte, in Arezzo, Italy. In Boston, she worked with world renowned artists including Hope Boykin, Jennifer Archibald, Joe Gonzalez, Kurt Douglas, John Lam, Daniel McCusker, and Alissa Cardone. Alyssa was an active leader in her collegiate community, founding Low Stakes (an interdisciplinary improvisation club), creating over nine choreographic works, serving as President of Might Dance Collective, representing her junior class on the Dean’s Student Council, and teaching low-resistance dance classes at assisted living communities through Movement Matters.

Her passion for environmental advocacy and community building attracted her to the work glo platform is doing and has fueled her own choreographic endeavors. She made her directorial and choreographic debut with Concrete Bouquet: A Day of Dance in Nature (2023), supported by Theatre in the Open. She also presented Soul-tied at the Goat Farm’s 2nd annual SITE Festival and is currently working on Deadwood Diaries, a dance film series about forest ecology, with the support of Dance Canvas.

Alyssa is deeply grateful to be a moving artist with glo, where she is molded by the bodies and environments that hold her. She is honored to be a core faculty member at Arseneau Dance Academy where she mentors the next generation of artists. To Alyssa, dance is a powerful form of activism. She shares her dance with the desire to spark collective hope, joy, and agency.
