Zandia Covington

Moving Artist

Zandia Covington, Georgia born and raised, grew up the antithesis of the southern church girl. Her foundational relationship with religion was invoked by her parents. Even as a young girl, Zee would always break the mold, and church was no exception. Her feisty Leo energy was often too much for the church to handle. But her unwavering faith kept her grounded.

Around age 12, at the passing of her Father, music, movement, and dance became ways to cope and move around emotion from the body. Movement became a form of communion, a deeper level, a deeper reach. Her father introduced and encouraged movement, his passing expanded it. It was a gift he made sure I knew was present in me, to use on deeper levels I never saw coming.

There is no greater feeling than allowing your body to be used as a symbol of spiritual and creative expression. I’m a vessel that communicates love, expression, deep emotion, high energy. I am a vessel that transmutes through movement as well.

After giving birth, Zandia experienced an awakening. Her physical, mental, and emotional being was transcended to depths she never knew she’d meet. She began to reimagine her purpose and passion in movement. Solidifying what my purpose on this Earth is.

Invited to a movement workshop though Vinisha, but also being a intrigued follower of the platform for some time now, I hasted to the workshop. Glo welcomed my daughter and myself with a pat down and we melted into the peace of love of glo. That alone was an experience. I remember entering the rehearsal hall, it felt like another realm, it was! We left floating. I didn’t have the words to explain what just happened to me that day, or any day that I’ve communed with glo.

Outside of glo, Zee is a die hard mother, communes closely with movement, nature, yoga, roller skating, bass playing, singing, and I’m currently studying body mod and piercing in Miami, Fl.
