Project Description
choir B
museum installation
choir B is comprised of dancers organized in a catalog of systems that cater to people in museums and art spaces. The systems are a script for dancers to exchange with people, and are made up of physical anthems, gestures and spoken games. Collectivity is an urgent agent, and the exchanges are carefully constructed as relational migrations and public movement choirs in the main corridors of the museum. Stallings is devoted to journey, and allowing dance to be a visual practice. Tableaux vivants are used as a transitory form, and etiquette and democratic rules for being inside vs. outside the exhibition are made between the dancers and people. As the exhibition unfolds, the question of what does it look like evolves to how does it feel. choir B matures into an exploration of the play between the permanent object vs. the ephemeral experience.
