Project Description

Liquid Culture

a utopia station series

Liquid Culture deploys universal gesture as a way into utopia — no place and good place — as a series of public interventions envisioned as subjective everyday experiences in real time and intentional realities. Each cycle of Liquid Culture is unveiled over a 13-day period in the form of public stations for arriving, leaving, and staying awhile. Locations for the installation vary in scale and density, and include a MARTA station, Sol LeWitt’s 54 Columns, High Museum Sifly Plaza, Little 5 Points neighborhood, and 15th & Peachtree St. in Midtown Atlanta. The project engages an ambitious collaborative, including The Atlanta Opera, Alliance Theatre and Sonic Generator, to investigate over-arching themes and common threads in individual installments, including public freedom and the need to be a part of a collection.

Liquid Culture is supported, in part, by a support grant from Fulton County Arts Council, a collaboration with Sonic Generator, The Atlanta Opera, and Alliance Theater. Liquid Culture is supported in conjunction with gloINTENSIVE. Liquid Culture is supported by an Artists’ Residency at the Atlanta Symphony Hall, Woodruff Arts Center, Atlanta, GA. Liquid Culture is supported by Midtown Alliance and Midtown Blue, Atlanta, Little 5 Points neighborhood association, Historic 4th Ward neighborhood association, MARTA, and Freedom Park.
